Try every version of a sentence, in place.

Writer keeps other versions of a word, a sentence, or a paragraph right where they go. Switch between them and read each one in context.

Your versions and AI versions

A side panel lists the versions. Write your own, or ask AI for more that fit the text around them. Yours and the AI's are marked differently.

It was a hard choice.

It was an easy choice.

A or an, handled

Pick a word that starts with a vowel and “a” turns into “an”. The article follows the word you choose.

We left early. I still think about the bakery on the corner. The road was empty by noon.

Ghost

Dim a passage to about a tenth of its strength instead of deleting it. It stays readable and out of the word count. Revive it any time.

Overflow

A paragraph I am not ready to use, or to lose.

Overflow

A side panel for writing you are not ready to use or lose. Stash a selection in one keystroke, and bring it back with ⌃↵ or by dragging it into the page.

See what to cut before you cut it.

The Lab trims a draft by fading the words that could go. Nothing is removed until you say so.

  • Pick a trim level: about 10%, 20%, 30%, or half.
  • Words that could go fade in place. Click any faded word to keep it.
  • Walk through the cuts one by one, or make them all at once.

Write it one way, then another. Writer keeps both in place until you choose.
